Downloading TD History

For firms who currently have accounts on the TD platform, there's a chance that the daily raw data files that TD produces will no longer be easily accessible after the Labor Day merger with Charles Schwab.

If, for example, you use a reporting platform like Orion, those are the files that Orion uses to reconcile your accounts every morning. If you do not currently use a reporting platform, these would also be the source for importing history if you ever onboarded to Orion or a competitive platform in the future.

Schwab provides much less data to its advisors (2-5 years) whereas TD could provide data back to your firm's inception.

We'd advise downloading your data prior to Labor Day, following these steps.

Next, expand your dates to capture the inception of your firm and change the file type to "Centerpiece," which is a standard format that many reporting platforms can read. You'll end up downloading 4 files per day (Positions, Prices, Securities, Transactions).
