Create & Customize Client Portal
Where to start?
They say the best place to start is the beginning. To start working on your portal, you’ll first need to create a user login . See below on how to create this, and future, logins.
Once you have one user login created, select your advisor name in the upper right-hand corner, then select “Login As.” Enter the household login that you just created, and you’re in! At this point, you can see exactly what the client will see.
In the upper right-hand corner of the client portal, you will see an “Admin” button. Select this, and then select “Settings.” This section will give you all your options for customization of your portal.
How to Create Client Logins
You may create the rest of your client logins in the same you did in the step above. Initially, you may want to do this in bulk, in which case we can provide you with a spreadsheet for you to update, and we'll import it into your database.

The client portal can be customized on a MASS level, so all clients see the same information in the same format, etc. However, you have the option of adjusting settings for certain clients, households or groups, depending on your situation. Here’s a glimpse of your options…
If you have not already, I encourage you to go through the “Client Portal” section located in “Assist Me.” It walks through all the different sections available for the client to see.
Logo
- Log into your client portal and click the gears, “Admin” in the top right.
- Click “settings”
- Click “Global” tab
- Go to “Custom Logo” and upload your photo
- Be sure to hit “save"

- Click “Advisor” tab
- Turn “show advisor info” ON
- Go to “Advisor Image” and upload your photo
- Be sure to hit “save”

- Follow steps A-D in question above
- Fill out information
- Be sure to hit “save”
Custom URL
To send your clients a customized login link for Orion (it'll have your logo) copy the "Custom Site URL" link in the upper right hand corner. You can use this link to send to clients, rather than the normal Orion login site that you normally use as an advisor.
What does a successfully implemented client portal look like from the client side?
Again, you may view the client portal from a client’s point of view by logging into the portal, and then selecting “Log in as” under the “Admin” section. This will allow you to review the site and make sure it is displaying as you intended. If not, go back into the settings section to make changes.
