Global Setting

Portal Name | Designate the title of the portal website. The Portal Name is visible on the webpage tab at the top of your browser. |
Custom Logo | Upload your custom logo to display on the login.orionadvisor.com page. This setting only controls the logo that displays on your login page. Follow these steps to change the logo that displays in the upper left corner of the Orion Client Portal itself:

Primary Color | Verify that your portal’s custom color is assigned, or update it by entering the color code into the Primary Color field. You can also select a color in the chart if you don’t have a particular code. |
Chart Type | Set the type of chart displayed for asset category allocation and asset class allocation on the Summary tab - Donut, Pie, or Bar (default) Client Portal > Personal Finances tab > Summary tab. |
Portal Disclaimer | Turn ON to enable the text written in the Disclaimer Text box and to override the custom disclosure in the Orion Planning settings. Turn OFF to use the custom disclosure written in the Orion Planning settings (limitation of 500 characters). Important Note: When enabled this only displays for clients, NOT prospects. Prospects see the custom disclosure in the Orion Planning settings. |
Disclaimer Text | Write a custom disclosure that will be displayed for clients in the Client Portal/Orion Planning. |
Use Client Full Name | Display the full name field from Orion Connect when displaying their related households in the Client Portal. |
Create Login | Use this setting to allow new clients to create their own logins to your Client Portal. Choose from the following options:
If you choose "SSN and Account Number" or "SSN and Date of Birth", your client portal login page will contain a link that says Create Login. New clients can use this to input their desired username and the matching information that you selected with this setting. If the information they enter matches what is already in your system, a password setup link is automatically emailed to the client. Please Note: To use this function, the client's household must already be created within Portfolio Audit and must contain their SSN, DOB, and email address. |
Advisor Settings
Please Note: The following advisor settings apply to Contact My Advisor button in the Client Portal for Orion connected households only. Prospects in Orion Planning will use the Contact information from Orion Planning's application settings.
All of the settings within this section translate over to the Client Portal including First Name, Last Name, Address 1, Address 2, City, State, Zip, Phone, Email Address.

Show Advisor Info | Enable the advisor info with the ON/OFF toggle. If OFF, "Ask an Advisor" is no longer an option on the Configure Access menu. |
Advisor Image | Upload a headshot. This setting controls the image that displays on the Contact my Advisor page. |
Calendar Url | Add a scheduling website link for the client to use to schedule a meeting with the advisor. |
Advisor Url | Add the firm's website link or a specific website link with more information about the advisor (if applicable). |
Advisor Url Text | This text embeds the Advisor Url link, creating the option to customize how the link is shown. Example: Advisor Url - https://orion.com/ Advisor Url Text - Visit Orion |

Portfolio Settings
Please Note: On applicable settings, select "Use Database Default" to pull in the firm-wide default setting already configured within Firm Profile > Option Information.

Sidebar Accounts | Select the accounts to show on the sidebar in the Client Portal. |
Displayed Accounts | Select what accounts will be displayed in the Client Portal. |
Account Number to Show | Select how many account number digits you want to show uncensored in the Client Portal. For example, if you enter 4, then the final 4 account number digits will be displayed under the Managed Accounts section on the sidebar. |
Show Unmanaged Accounts | Enjoy the flexibility of choosing whether or not to show unmanaged accounts to clients inside the Client Portal. |
Unmanaged Accounts Title | Customize the unmanaged account title label in the Client Portal to better align with how the unmanaged accounts are described to the clients. How to get there: Orion Connect > Client Portal > Personal Finances > Unmanaged Section |
Managed Account Grouping | Select how accounts are grouped and displayed in the left-hand sidebar of the Client Portal. Options include None (default), Custodian, Fund Family, Management Style, Model, Portfolio Groups, Registration (Sleeve), and Sub-Advisor. |
Account Names | Select which property you want account names to display as. Options include Management Style, Model, Use Database Default, Registration Name, Account Type, and Sub-Advisor. |
Account Sort Order | Select how accounts are sorted in the sidebar of the Client Portal. |
Default Date Range | Designate which date range you want to display each time the Personal Finances page loads. Select from the following options: 1 Year, 3 Year, 5 Year, 10 Year, Since Inception, Last 30 Days, Month-To-Date, Quarter-To-Date, and Year-To-Date. |
Date Range Options | Select which date range options you want to include or exclude from the date dropdown on the Personal Finances page. Enable "Custom Period" to allow clients to enter their own date ranges. |
Consolidate Holdings | When enabled, all holdings with products that share the same ticker are consolidated into a single line item instead of broken out individually. |
Holdings Grouping Options | Designate which grouping options should be available when viewing Positions in the Client Portal. |
Default Holdings Grouping | Designate the default grouping option when viewing Positions in the Client Portal. Common selections are Account, Management Style, or Model. |
Left Allocation Card Grouping | Customize the allocation cards at the bottom of the Summary tab to display the specific grouping. Choose between 9 different groupings for greater customization. |
Right Allocation Card Grouping | Customize the allocation cards at the bottom of the Summary tab to display the specific grouping. Choose between 9 different groupings for greater customization. |
Show Performance | When enabled, the Performance tab is accessible under the Personal Finances page. |
Daily Performance Calculation | When enabled, this affects whether yesterday’s daily return at the account level will display along the left sidebar of the Client Portal. |
Annualize Performance | Designate whether you want to use the database default, annualized, or cumulative performance. |
Performance Calculation | Designate the calculation method used for performance. Available options are Database Default, IRR, Simple, and TWR. In most cases, best practice is to select Database Default because it keeps performance returns consistent across your database. |
Performance Grouping Options | Designate which grouping options should be available when viewing Performance in the Client Portal. |
Default Performance Grouping | Designate the default grouping option when viewing performance in the Client Portal. Common selections are Account, Management Style, or Model. |
Additional Performance Periods | Designate what time periods should display in the Performance Details table when viewing performance under the Personal Finances tab in the Orion Client Portal |
Asset Level Performance | When enabled, the ability to review performance at the asset level will be available. |
Show $0 Assets in Performance | When enabled, holdings with a market value of $0 will display on the Personal Finances page > Performance tab > Performance Details. |
Show Grouping Benchmarks | When enabled, the Benchmarks for the Performance Grouping option that is selected will be displayed in the Performance Details box. We recommend enabling this setting if you would like to review and compare more detailed performance metrics. |
Show Household Benchmarks | When enabled, the specific Household Benchmark assignments will be displayed in the Performance Details box. We recommend enabling this setting if you would like to review and compare more detailed performance metrics. |
Display Benchmarks on Chart | When enabled, up to three benchmarks will be displayed on both the Performance Summary and the Performance vs Benchmark charts shown on the Performance page. |
Show Transactions | Control the ability to show or hide the Transactions tab at various levels within the Client Portal. |
Show Transaction Notes | Add custom transaction notes in the client portal in situations where a client holds unique securities or an account with unique activity to communicate specific details around a transaction to your clients. Clients will see a tool-tip next to any transactions in the client portal that have advisor notes added to them. They can hover over the tool-tip and read the advisor notes to understand the transaction in better detail. How to add transaction notes: Orion Connect > Portfolio Audit > Select Household or Account > View Transactions > Advisor Notes |
Use $0 Inception Value | When applicable, this setting updates the inception calculations behind the Transaction Summary card on the Personal Finances page. When enabled, the Beginning Market Value at inception displays as $0. When disabled, the Beginning Market Value at inception displays the sum of all activity on inception day. |
Activity Category Map | This controls how transactions are grouped together and categorized in the summary section. By default, Contributions and Distributions are the initial options in the Create Categories tab. This allows you to create additional categories for transactions to show more specific activity such as Advisory Fees Paid or Net Dividends/Interest/Gains Withdrawn. Once you create all desired categories, map the applicable Orion transaction types to the desired category in the Map Transaction Types tab. Please note: all transactions that are not mapped will be allocated towards the Market Value Increase/Decrease totals in the summary section. |
Show Income | When enabled, the income tab shows on the Personal Finances page within the Client Portal. This page shows projected income and income details for accounts, asset categories, and management styles. |
Show Cost Basis | When enabled, the Positions page will include two additional columns: Cost Basis and Unrealized Gain Loss. If the name of the holding is selected, the Unrealized Lot Details will open for that specific holding. In addition, when looking under a specific Account, the Transactions tab will include a sub-tab for Realized Gain/Loss. When this setting is disabled, all of these will be excluded from the Client Portal. |
Include Amortization | Provides clients with a more accurate representation of their cost basis. |
Show Alternative Detail | Seamlessly integrate alternative asset information directly into your Client Portal. When this setting is enabled, all assets with the "Alternative" status (Edit Asset > Status dropdown = Alternative) feed to the Client Portal > Personal Finances page > Positions tab.

Related Households | When enabled, portfolios added as Related Households display in the Client Portal. Select the desired setting from the dropdown to either include or exclude these households from adding to the total sum of account values. |
Show RMD | When enabled, RMD Dashboard will be an additional tab on the Personal Finances page. If enabled, hover over the three dots icon in the upper right corner of the page to reveal this tab in the portal. |

Enable Newsfeed | When enabled, the newsfeed tab will display on the client portal. Disable to remove the newsfeed tab. Review the Client Experience App Overview > Newsfeed Posts section for more information on using the Newsfeed. |

Allow Ad Hoc Reports | When enabled, the ability to run reports in the Client Portal will be available. For the report to feed in, the Report Access must be adjusted to include the client or clients that you want it available for. |
Statement Setting Enabled | When enabled, the ability to opt into eStatement notifications will be available to clients on the Document Vault page. If the client opts in, they must enter their email. If they opt out, they must confirm their mailing address. |
Cloud Storage | When enabled, the cloud storage provider hides Orion's cloud storage provider to streamline your client's experience. This suppresses all documents that were manually uploaded in the portal prior to using a third-party cloud storage integration. To retrieve these documents, simply turn OFF the Cloud Storage Enabled setting. Please note: All Cloud Storage options currently work EXCEPT for Net Documents. |
Integration Settings
Make your client portal the first and only stop for your clients by integrating all of your client tools in one place. Initiate and configure integrations with instructions found in the Integrations app, then enable them for your clients using the steps below.

BluePay | If your firm has an integration established with BluePay, this option must be enabled in order for clients to enter their credit card or ACH information in the Client Portal. Please note, this is only applicable to clients that are setup to pay management fees or other additional fees via credit card or ACH. |
eMoney - SSO | If your firm has an integration established with eMoney, this option must be enabled in order to launch the eMoney Portal from the Client Portal. |
MoneyGuidePro | If your firm has an integration established with MoneyGuidePro and you want to include this in your Client Portal, enable the associated settings for:

Riskalyze Risk Profile | If your firm has an integration established with Nitrogen (Riskalyze) and you want the Riskalyze Risk Profile option to appear in the new portal, verify that this setting is set to ON. |
RightCapital - SSO | If your firm has an integration established with RightCapital, enable this setting to include the RightCapital SSO on the Client Portal. Please Note: there is a separate RightCapital SSO app for advisor-level users. Enable the advisor-facing RightCapital SSO app by checking the "RightCapital" permission on a user's role within the Manage Users app. |
Schwab Alliance - SSO | If your firm has an integration established with Schwab Alliance, enable this setting to include the Schwab Alliance SSO on the Client Portal. |
