Portfolio Structure
Orion’s portfolio structure, also known as the portfolio hierarchy, is the backbone of client data organization and connectivity across the platform. There are five levels within the structure and specific client information is held within each level. Knowing what information is stored at each level speeds up your processing when you go to review and edit different fields. This illustration explains how portfolios are stored within Orion Connect.
A Household represents a client and is made up of a collection of registrations, enabling you to group together a family’s accounts.
Registrations correspond to each unique owner AND type combinations within a household. Each registration may contain accounts held with multiple custodians.
Accounts represent the custodial account that holds the assets.
Assets represent the funds and securities held within the account.
Transactions record each account’s activity: Buys, Sells, Contributions, Distributions, etc. |
Types of Information Stored at Each Level:
Utilize Portfolio Groups to categorize and group similar kinds of accounts in a household that are in different registrations. For example, group all the retirement accounts in the household together.
