Onboarding Workflow for Start and Serve Tiers

Welcome to the Orion platform! This guide will walk you through the steps you will need to take in order to fully onboard your client accounts and start utilizing all of the tools offered.

Step 1: Reviewing and Organizing Your Data within Orion

Your client information and accounts may need some cleanup when they first start downloading. Some common items that may need to be addressed are:

  • Merging Households together.
  • Updating client names and updating information such as email address and Statement Delivery Method.
  • Updating Account Types.

Here is a link to a Support Article that walks through how to perform these tasks.

Step 2: Review Client Portal Settings

If you are planning on utilizing the Orion Client Portal we recommend creating a client level login for yourself or a family member first so you have a chance to review the portal settings. These settings can be updated within the Client Experience app. Once you have updated the settings you will want to select Save in the top right corner. Changes can take up to 15 minutes to appear in the portal.

Global Tab

  • Custom Logo - We've already added your logo during your onboarding process. If you decide to change your logo, simply upload the new version here. Please keep in mind that updating your logo will require clearing your cache and cookies in order to see the new logo appear in the login screen.
  • Primary Color - You can add in a color that will show on the left sidebar along with the graphs within the portal.

Advisor Setting

  • These settings will allow you to turn on the Contact My Advisor section and upload name and contact information into the portal.

Portfolio Settings

  • Sidebar and Display Account Settings - Decide if you would like to include only Active Account with Value or all accounts.
  • Left and Right Allocation Card Groupings - Select which grouping levels (i.e Account, Asset Category, etc) are displayed within the card.
  • Show Performance - Turn the Performance tab on or off.
  • Annualized Performance - Designate whether you want to use the database default, annualized, or cumulative performance.
  • Performance Calculation - Select which performance method you would like to use.
  • Show Household Benchmarks - Include or exclude assigned benchmarks in the Performance cards.
  • Activity Category Map - Map transaction types to categories and select if they appear in the Activity Summary card. Please note, any categories not selected will be included in the Market Value Change row.

Document Settings

  • Allow Ad Hoc Reporting - Turn the ability for clients to generate their own report on or off.

Integrations Settings

  • If you are using a Financial Planning tool such as eMoney or Right Capital you will want to toggle that row on and confirm that all others are off. This will allow a SSO page to appear for your clients.

Step 3: Benchmarks

Decide if you would like to add benchmarks to accounts or clients. If you would like the same benchmark applied to all of your clients let us know at orion@xyinvestmentsolutions.com and we will update them en masse for you. If you would like to assign specific benchmarks to clients, accounts, or asset categories you can do so in the Benchmarking app. Here is a link that walks through the assignment process.

Step 4: Review Reports

Review the report options and select which report you would like to generate as your quarterly report if applicable. If you let us know the report we can add it to our QE process and have the reports sent to the client portal document vault along with being available for you to review and download within the Report Batch tool.
